Tyga stands by explicit artwork for upcoming new album ‘Kyoto’

“It’s art, man. It’s art” the rapper says

Tyga has defended the controversial artwork for his upcoming new album ‘Kyoto’, claiming that “it’s lit”.

The US rapper unveiled the cover earlier this week. Designed by a cult Japanese artist called Hajime Sorayama, the explicit artwork shows a naked tiger-woman hybrid in front of the Japanese flag.

Captioning the image on Instagram, Tyga said: “I been wanting to make this album for a while now but didn’t have the confidence and the story to express my true emotions.”

He went on to say that the album is him “opening his heart”, before thanking Sorayama “for allowing me to share this experience with the world thru your creative art & my vision.”

Now, following a strong online reaction to the artwork, Tyga has been asked about the cover by TMZ. “It’s lit,” the rapper responded, adding: “It’s art, man. It’s art.”

When told that some had described the piece as “furry porn”, Tyga said: “I don’t even know what that is.”

Earlier today, the rapper announced a European tour – with dates scheduled for London’s Kentish Town Forum and Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse in March.
