The former will perform with Sting at the show next month, which is being held to celebrate the monarch’s 92nd birthday
Shaggy and Shawn Mendes are among the artists who are set to play at a special event next month which will mark Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd birthday.
The monarch will celebrate the birthday at an event which will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on April 21. Billed as ‘The Queen’s Birthday Party’, the show will be broadcast on both BBC One and BBC Radio Two on April 21 at 8pm.
Among the acts to be announced for the royal extravaganza are Shaggy and Shawn Mendes, with the two artists set to line up alongside the likes of Sir Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue. Anne-Marie and Craig David are also set to perform on the night.
Lewis Carnie, Head of BBC Radio 2, said that the show “promises to be a spectacular evening of entertainment destined to bring the whole nation together.”
Shaggy will play with Sting at the event, with the two set to perform songs from their forthcoming collaborative album ’44/876′ – which is set to be released next month.
The unlikely duo’s “island-influenced” LP came about after the pair “got together to jam and write music that reflects their mutual love of Jamaica, its music, people and culture”.
Shaggy and Sting’s joint appearance at the Grammys back in January proved to be one of the more surprising highlights of this year’s awards ceremony.
