It’s once again been a great week for music, with the Rated Awards dominating talk in the scene. The success of the awards and the number of acts eligible for nominations in so many of the categories is another sign of how UK music is constantly propelling forward. The official UK charts is also an indication of this, with some major movements again this week.
Mabel and Kojo Funds’ track “Finders Keepers” has done it again, climbing from ten to eight this week, it’s an impressive accomplishment for both artists, as its climbed to this spot after eleven weeks on the chart. Also having been in the charts for eleven weeks is the amazingly catchy “Hurtin Me” by the one and only Steflon Don featuring French Montana, it is still a major player, sitting at number eleven this week, slipping four places from last weeks number seven position.
The mighty combination of Yungen ft Yxng Bane is still going strong in the charts. “Bestie” sits at number fourteen this week, meaning its been inside the top twenty for an incredible ten weeks, its sold 388682 copies which is impressive to say the least. Yxng Bane’s track “Rihanna” is sitting at number 42, being involved in two track sin the top 100 is a definitely a great look.
We have to mention Big Shaq’s “Man’s Not Hot”, the video for the tune dropped this week and received over 4 million views in 24 hours! It’s sitting at twenty-six this week but with the hype around the video, don’t be surprised to see it climbing back up the charts next week. Not3s’ “Aladin” sits at fifty, Lotto Boyzz anthem “No Don” has climbed to fourty five after sixteen weeks on the charts, Jorja Smith and Preditah are sitting at fifty six with “On my Mind” and Hardy Caprio and One Acen are staying strong at fifty-two with “Unsigned”. What a time to be alive!
The whole month of October has seen some especially notable projects being released and this has certainly been reflected in the album charts. Amongst other great music, this week saw the highly anticipated release of Krept and Konan’s twin album 7 days and 7 nights. “Ask Flipz” ft Stormzy from the 7 days album has entered at number thirty which is a great starting position. In total, eleven of the tracks across the two albums made it into the top 100. When we look at the album charts once again Krept and Konan have absolutely smashed it, with 7 days coming in at number six and 7 nights at number eight! To go straight in to the top ten first week is a major success move. They’re outstanding projects and completely deserve the recognition they are receiving at the moment.
Giggs’ Wamp 2 Dem mixtape is still riding high at swenty-seven this week, with the banger that is “Linguo” featuring Done’O at forty-seven in the single charts. After an incredible thirty-five weeks on the chartsStormzy’s now iconic Gang Signs and Prayer is at thirty-two from twenty last week, his performance at the Rated Awards as well as high profile appearances on mainstream TV means this album isn’t going anywhere for a while. Also worth mentioning is the incredible piece of art which is Wretch 32’s FR32, it has dropped from twelve to sixty five this week. Last but not certainly not least is J Hus’ Common Sense album which after twenty four weeks is still sitting within the top forty at thirty-eight!
