Edward Enninful has been confirmed the brand new editor of the British edition of prestigious fashion magazine Vogue, publisher Conde Nast has revealed.
It’s an announcement being celebrated across the board, as Enninful is a Ghanaian born black man, and is being hailed as a progressive move from the fashion giants.
Conde Nast’s chief executive, Jonathan Newhouse, described him as “an influential figure in the communities of fashion, Hollywood and music which shape the cultural zeitgeist,” and that “by virtue of his talent and experience, Edward is supremely prepared to assume the responsibility of British Vogue.”
Enninful entered the world of fashion after being scouted as a model at the age of 16, most recently taking over at the helm of W Magazine.
He will succeed Alexandra Schulman as editor, who has been in the position for 25 years, and said, “Today is one of the most special days of my life. It is wonderful to be honoured by my country while surrounded by my family and closest friends.”
