Beyoncé has given birth to twins as reports of the labour circulated this weekend.

Earlier this week (June 16), an anonymous tip-off suggested that Beyoncé was in labour at Los Angeles’ UCLA Hospital.

Now it has been reported that the singer has given birth to a boy and a girl, with the twins kept in hospital due to a ‘minor issue’.

Speaking to the Mirror, a source said, “We’re told a “minor issue” surfaced, and as a result … doctors do not feel comfortable releasing them. We do not know the nature of the issue. One source told us Beyonce also remains at the hospital, but as far as we know she’s okay. The babies are expected to be okay as well. It’s unclear when everyone will be released.”

Social media users began celebrating the twins’ birth earlier today, with vlogger Anthony Quintal writing, “Beyoncé has officially given birth to Gemini twins… We welcome them into the Gemini family with open arms!”

Representatives for both Beyoncé and Jay-Z are yet to confirm the birth.

The singer announced news of her pregnancy back in February via an instantly-iconic Instagram post. She wrote at the time: “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters.”

Beyoncé was later forced to pull out of her Coachella headline slot on doctor’s orders, but will headline the festival in 2018 instead.

The Shade Room reported earlier this week of an anonymous tip-off suggesting that Beyoncé was in labour at Los Angeles’ UCLA Hospital, with Us Weekly later reporting of a “significant amount of security” at the hospital. Representatives of the couple have not yet commented on the reports.

However, both Barack Obama and Jennifer Hudson have since added to speculation. Speaking in an interview this week, Hudson – a friend of Beyoncé’s – was asked about the rumours. She gave a cryptic response, saying: “Honey, you know

[Beyoncé] lives in her own world. You’ll have to wait till she tells you that. ‘m sure when it’s time for the world to know, she will definitely let them know.”

Meanwhile, congratulating Jay Z on his Songwriters Hall of Fame induction, Obama may have let slip the sex of the couple’s twins, saying: “Jay and I are also fools for our daughters. Although, he’s going to have me beat once those twins show up.”

Earlier this year, Beyoncé made headlines whilst pregnant by delivering a show-stopping Grammy Awards performance. The singer failed to pick up any of the big prizes at the ceremony in February, losing out to Adele, who herself argued that Beyoncé should have won instead of her.
