Wayne Rooney - We Can Win The Euros
England star Wayne Rooney insists that the Three Lions can go on to win the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.
Rooney is now eligible to play at Euro 2012 after missing England's opening two games due to suspension.
The Manchester United forward is set to play his first game on Tuesday in Donetsk when England face co-hosts Ukraine in their final group game.
With four points already in the bag Roy Hodgson's men only need a point in the Donbass Arena to secure their passage to the quarter-finals.
And Rooney is confident he can help England go all the way, insisting: "We're good enough to win it.
"I know obviously everyone doesn't want us to build up expectations but I firmly believe that we've got the players to do it.
"You need a bit of luck as well but we've got a good opportunity.
"We've always believed. A country like ours needs to be in there with a shout of winning major tournaments and I firmly believe that.
"We've got the squad, we're more organised than we have been as long as I've been in the squad and we are hard to beat.
"If we keep doing that and keep working there's no reason we can't go really far and be in with a shout of winning it."
England will face one of Spain, Croatia or Italy in the last eight if they make it through but Rooney has few worries about facing one of the favourites.
"You have to play the best teams if you want to win tournaments - and how much of a boost would it be for us if we did play them and beat them," he said.
"How much confidence would that give us?
"You have to play those teams to win tournaments whether it's quarter-finals, semis or the final. We just have to cope with that."
Rooney has also revealed it is a far happier Three Lions camp at Euro 2012 than it was in South Africa two years ago.
Rooney said: "The tournament feels a lot shorter, whereas South Africa felt like it was dragging out.
"We went to Austria for two weeks before the World Cup and by the time we got to the tournament your head has gone a bit already.
"All the squad are happy here. It is a happy camp at the moment."
